$15 Ice Skating In Harlem!

I had a NYC first this week: ice skating!  I swear, every winter I say I’m going to get on one of our city’s many ice rinks, but the season just escapes and it never happens.  This year, I corrected that!  I heard that the Lasker Rink up by Central Park North was having an ice skating fundraiser last weekend to support Figure Skating In Harlem (such a fabulous organization, btw), so the hubby and I planned a day date and had so much fun!

I’m so happy we happened upon the particular rink that we did, because from what I could tell it’s by far the largest iceskating rink in the city (mainly because there’s not one but TWO rinks to choose from, side by side), and even with the fundraiser going on and it being pretty packed, we didn’t have to wait in line for more than 5 minutes to rent skates.  Win!  Also, the price of admission + ice skating rental fees is quite lower than other popular spots in the city, rounding out like so:

ADULTS: $8.00
YOUTHS: $4.00
SENIORS: $2.25

A fun date for under $20 a person?  I’ll take it!  Just be sure to bring cash (no credit cards are accepted), as well as a lock for your locker, or a few extra dollars to rent a lock, to stick your shoes, purse, and other goodies in.

Plus after we were finished we took a beautiful wintery stroll down through Central Park (I don’t get to the North part of the park nearly as much as I do the South, and you forget how quiet and peaceful it is up there.)  Perfect daytime date!

If you’re interested in checking out one of the city’s other ice skating rinks, here’s a comprehensive list of rinks covering all the boroughs.  Oh!  And it’s totally a legit workout, too.  Two birds, one stone.
