Yoga To The People

One of my few complaints about living in the Big Apple is the oh-so-frigid winters!  In order to ward off the February chill (as well as get in a great workout!), one of my favorite things to do is hot yoga.

Yoga to the People is unique in that there is no membership required, and that unlike most other studios in the city, they don’t charge astronomical prices to attend class.  Their motto is: yoga made available to everyone.

They currently have five locations in the city, including traditional vinyasa yoga studios as well as hot studios.  The price varies from donation to $7 a class, which is a steal compared to most other studios in the city.  Because of the great deal, classes do fill up fast and tend to be very crowded, so get there early!

The instructors are energetic and clearly very passionate about their practice, which makes the mood of the class flow perfectly.  No better way to warm up from the NYC chill than to step into 105 degree yoga studio!  It’s like a mini hour long vacation to the shores of Miami, without all the airport lines!  You can find class times, locations, and more at their website.

  1. I went for the first time yesterday. I did the heated vinyasa class for $5. I brought my own towel and mat, but they offer voth for $2 each. Bring water or you can buy for a dollar and definitely get there at least 20 minutes early….you’ll thank me repeatedly.

    • YES, water is essential when doing the hot yoga! Well worth the dollar!:-)
