Noteworthy New Yorkers: The Friends Of Hudson River Park

Ralph Marston said, “When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing-just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?”  With people living such busy lives these days just the thought of doing nothing seems like a very far and distant thought!  The good news is that The Friends of Hudson River Park, a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) is working in partnership with The Hudson River Park Trust to ensure the completion, care and enhancement of Hudson River ParkA place where New Yorkers and people from all around the world can find rest, enjoy nature and do nothing!

So with that goal in mind, The Friend’s of Hudson River Park will be holding their fundraising gala on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 in Hudson River Park, Pier 26, New York, NY.  This exciting fundraising event will be hosted by Gayle King and the organization will be honoring Glenn Dubin, Chairman and CEO of Highbridge Capital Management, for his leadership role in community enrichment.

It’s important to note here that $200 million dollars is needed to complete the work in the park and that funds are also needed to support an advocacy effort that the park not be occupied any more than it already is by commercial and municipal operations!

If the thought of enjoying nature in all of its finery excites you coupled with a lovely city park to hang out in, then click HERE and buy a ticket to this very important New York City fundraiser!

It’s very true that nowadays people fail to realise the importance of slowing down and taking a step back. We really have to learn to appreciate life more for its nuances and not just rush to earn the biggest bucks. Sometimes, doing nothing is the very thing that you need and its good that there are people advocating this. I support this wholely! Hopefully, the next time I reach NYC, I’ll be able to see something cool and special in the Hudson River Park! Someone should make a movie from this place! :)

Hudson Park is a must-see! Even if you just grab some street vendor food and lounge the day away in the sun and grass, it really makes for a lovely experience.
