Noteworthy New Yorkers: The International Rescue Committee
On July 24th, 2012, The International Rescue Committee will be having its second annual GenR (Generation Rescue) Party. This GenR Party is being hosted by a dynamic, diverse group of young professionals (under 45) who have joined forces to advance the humanitarian work of The International Rescue Committee.
This fundraiser will take place from 6:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. and will be hosted in The David Burke Garden at The James Hotel, 23 Grand Street, New York, NY. In this lush garden setting, there will be a special menu prepared by Chef David Burke along with great drinks, raffles and lots of other fun activities. The evening will also provide an opportunity to learn more about the work of The International Rescue Committee and how their funds are spent.
By and large, The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worse crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives whether it be abroad or in our own country. Some of the organization’s most recent achievements have been to give 1.7 million people access to clean drinking water and sanitation, to have vaccinated over 500,000 children against fatal disease and to have resettled some 7,000 newly arrived refugees.
