So what is Multiple Sclerosis?
Multiple Sclerosis is said to be a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks the central nervous system which affects one’s brain, spinal cord, and the nerve fibers to the eyes. Autoimmune disorders happen when a person’s immune system, which normally is supposed to protect the body actually otherwise attacks and destroys the body’s healthy tissue. When that happens and the covering of the body’s nerve fibers are damaged then nerve impulses are interrupted and one will experience the symptoms of the disease.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will be the recipient of the funds raised on the 26th. The Society is a group of passionate individuals who want to create a world free of MS. In that dedicated spirit, The Society helps each person with MS address their daily challenges through their 50 state “chapter” network. The Society does this by funding cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education and provides programs and services that help people with MS and their families to move their lives forward!
