The New York Home Tee: Where Fashion Meets Home
While New Yorkers may not be known for wearing their heart on their sleeve, they’ll certainly have no trouble wearing their state on their chest. This comes from a staunch sense of loyalty to their city, their neighborhood, their block, and their itty-bitty studio apartment any non-New Yorker would call a closet, but to them, it’s home.
Ryan Shell, founder of the fashion blog Fashables, has created the New York Home T for New Yorkers such as yourselves. The simple design is printed on a unisex American Apparel tee, featuring the boundary of New York state with the word home. in the middle. The shirts come in either red or blue…great color choices for either fashion or political statements. I kinda can’t wait to rock my (red) one around the city. (Fashion or politics, you ask? I’ll never tell…this isn’t that kind of blog!)
If you’re a NYC implant and still want to show some love for your state of origin, you’re in luck. They’ll be coming out with a line of other states weekly, so put your name on the list and be notified when your home of choice is available. I smell an excellent gift opportunity…
For more information, and to purchase one of these awesome tees, head on over to The Home T website. You can also feel great knowing your purchase did something good today, as 15% of all proceeds will go to Multiple Sclerosis research!
In the mean time, we want to know what defines “home” for you?

Thanks for the gift inspiration. I have some die hard NY friends that would love this in their stocking this year!
Awesome, glad we could introduce you to them!:-)
It’d be even better if they ran a version of this shirt with 127.0.0.1 instead of the word home. but that might have a smaller audience.

Haha, I actually had no idea what that meant so I had to Google it. Very clever. No place like home:-)
Your question is too localized. I’ve been to New York but I wouldn’t call it home. The i heart NY had a more general appeal even to tourists. For this shirt, you must be a real New Yorker.
I do think you have to be a real New Yorker to really love and wear the shirt with pride…thankfully, they’re coming out with shirts for all states, so you can wear your “home” wherever your heart is;-)
Hey, yes, we will in fact eventually have shirts for all states. I’m from NC originally, but currently call NY (the state – not just Manhattan) home. Thanks for reading the post!

Thanks for sharing the North Carolina home tees, Kit!
That is a great idea! I wonder if they have something like that in Canada? Probably not

You should definitely put your name on their mailing list…who knows, they may just decide to go Canadian next!;-)
Bibi, it’s something that will be in the works in the very near future. There’s a spot on the homepage to sign up for updates; you may want to sign up so we can let you know when the Canada Home T is available.

I love this idea: helping a worthy cause and wearing a Maryland (or Alabama) T-shirt. Nice post.

I also love that they’re helping out such a great cause! More reason to wear the shirt with pride:-)
Alalyo, if you haven’t already, fill out this short form so we can let you know when your state is available.
