New Yorker Moments
Like most New Yorkers this week, life was put on hold by a sassy little visitor we had named Sandy. Living in Midtown Manhattan, I felt extremely blessed not to experience the power outages, flooding, and epic tree crashes that many downtown and outer borough residents had to go through. My neighborhood was eerily quiet and empty, with all the local business and restaurants shut down. Except, of course, the Korean bodega, which will stop at nothing to charge $8 for a grilled cheese sandwich. Gotta love New York.

SO glad you are ok…I don’t really know you, but I was thinking of you and my other NYC friends…

Aww, thanks so much Fiona! I appreciate your warm thoughts from across the pond!:-)
I do love New York! Your photos just made me wish I was there. Central Park is gorgeous, even after such a storm. I’ve seen some pretty terrible photos after Sandy’s appearance. I’m glad you escaped the damage and hope everything cleans up okay. Btw, I can’t wait to read your review of Buddakan!

Buddakan is definitely amazing…the best dim sum I’ve ever had!
Was happy to hear you were also spared in Midtown! People are slowly trickling back into my office from lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. It’s really quite something to see the photos from those areas. Losing power is fun for a bit, but for days it’s a nightmare! Can’t complain about my 4-day weekend though.

My dad lives in Virginia out in the COUNTRY, and one Christmas we were graced with an ice storm that left us without power for WEEKS! Needless to say, we invested in a generator after that, and definitely learned to appreciate heat, light, and (most of all?) hot water!
