New Yorker Moments
As much as I dislike shivering from head to toe on my way to the subway, Thanksgiving to New Years is probably my favorite time of year in NYC. This may have something to do with the endless amounts of twinkle lights…or that my first childhood visit to the Big Apple was during the month of December to see the Rockettes perform their Radio City Christmas Spectacular. I’ll never forget walking the streets of NYC with my mom and 3 younger siblings, and my mom stopping to ask someone where the Empire State Building was. Response: ”Lady, look up. You’re standing right in front of it.” Ever since that day I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for this city…especially when it twinkles. Don’t forget to look up, New Yorkers.
What were your favorite moments this week?
{The Plaza is decked out for the holidays}
{Food vendors string twinkle lights on their carts}
{My favorite diner meal ever…grilled cheese, french fries, and cherry coke at Tom’s Diner from Seinfeld}

Gillman says thank you:-)
I really need to give NYC a better chance than I have in the past. Its just a city that I haven’t clicked with yet (don’t kill me). As I get older, liking big cities less and less, but really need to give it another try…. when its warm

NYC can DEFINITELY be a lot to take in, totally understand…next time you’re here try some of the off-the-beaten path stuff…less people but every bit as interesting!:-)
My favorite moments are the ones spent with my family at the end of the day!

Agree! Absolute best:-)
Aww–I wanted to see more pics! I bet NYC is positively magical this time of year. I would love to go in the winter, but I can’t stomach holiday travel, and I’m sure not gonna drive from Cali
.
Gillman is adorable–and the photo looks very vintage. I guess NYC is a small-dog city, no?
Thanks for sharing some of the East Coast magic–it was a nice treat

Don’t worry, there’s many more holiday shots to come!;-) Glad you enjoyed!
I visited NYC one December about 10 years ago. Had a suite (by chance) in a fabulous hotel. Had tea at the russian tea rooms. Shopped till I dropped, met friends and all the rest. It’s very special!

A suite in NYC is definitely hitting the jackpot!;-) Sounds like a wonderful time, hope you get to come back soon!
New York City at Christmastime is just stunning and I’m kind of sad I won’t see it this year. The tree at Rock Center, the big window displays and even decorated balconies just put me in the holiday spirit. I LOVE Christmas and I don’t think France gets it the same way Americans do. Sure, it’s a commercial holiday, but if you make it special for yourself, it’s whatever you want it to be. And seeing NYC in all its Christmas glory helps on that front — just a special place to be. I LOVE YOU NEW YORK

Aww, thanks for stopping by and showing your NYC love! You’re so right…no matter where you are in the world, you make it special for yourself and your loved ones…be it twinkle lights, volunteering, or creating smiles when people open your holiday cards! Bonjour to France:-)
Jess, I can’t even tell you how jealous I am right now! I love New York at Christmas (confession: out of all of the times that I’ve visited, I’ve only been once when it didn’t fall in that Thanksgiving to New Years time of year). There is something so magical about the lights and the bustle of the holidays. My husband and I are new to Oregon this year, and it feels like people don’t celebrate at all out here. I miss the lights!! Great post! Enjoy it all enough for the both of us.

You’ll have to throw a tacky Christmas sweater party for your neighbors to get everyone in the festive mood! After a little spiked egg nog, I’m sure they’ll all be decking the halls!:-)
Sugar loves to hop in the warm laundry too!
Chihuahuas definitely know how to find the most comfy spots in the house!;-)
My favorite moment this week was taking a walk through my little town. I agree, this is the best time of the year and I love all the lights, the holiday decorations and even the freezing weather. It makes snuggling so much more fun
