Your NYC Weekend: October 26-27, 2013

FREE

1. Celebrate Lower East Side Pickle Day on Sunday from noon to 5…(and score a free ride to and from the festivities from Uber with the code PickleDay2013)!

2. The Haunted High Line Halloween is happening this Saturday from 11 to 3 and will feature an afternoon of art, music, ghosts and ghouls…even a haunted train tunnel!

3. If the Charlie Brown flick “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” ranks among your top films, you don’t want to miss the Pumpkin Fest being held in Central Park on Saturday from 11 to 3.  Lots of live entertainment.

CHEAP

4. Learn the history of the Astoria Studio complex in this weekend’s opening exhibit, “Lights, Camera, Astoria!”  It’s been a staple of the NYC filmmaking industry since 1920.

SPLURGE

5. Two of your favorite things, food + film, come together in the 2013 NYC Food Film Festival.  You watch screenings of food-related films, while, get this…sampling those very foods! A delicious idea if we’ve ever heard one!

Wishing you the very best NYC UYC weekend,

Jess + Team UsedYorkCity

Exactly! I think NYC gets a bad rap for being really expensive, but if you can manage the rent, there’s tons of great free or cheap stuff to do to keep you entertained the rest of the time!;-)

  2. This weekend I am taking it easy! you don’t have a ‘sofa’ option do you!

One of the most fun weekends of the year! Thanks for sharing, Jess!
The Haunted High Line Halloween is an event I would be interested to attend and photograph. The haunted trains, ghosts, art, music, ghouls, haunted tunnel, giant ghost train… Can’t imagine all photo opportunities!
