From The Lips Of A Local

Each week we feature a different local, sharing their unique experiences on what makes NYC the best place, ever.  Hey, we never said New Yorkers weren’t cocky.

This week we’re delighted to be chatting with online marketing guru, Julian!

Name: Julian Macias

Occupation: Online Marketing

New Yorker since: 2005

What hood do you live in? Murray Hill

Where do you get your morning coffee? Starbucks, sorry!

Restaurant you’d be really, really sad bordering on clinically depressed if they closed: The Spotted Pig and McSorley’s, love that dark draft.

Every tourist must visit: Don’t know, love DUMBO, Gantry Park, oh! wait for it … Washington St, Brooklyn, a must do!

NYC trend you’re currently loving/hating: I’m so tired about rental bike, don’t get me wrong, I like bikes and healthy people but not really that way.

Favorite way to while away a (non-workday!) NYC afternoon: Heading to Central Park and run! run! and run! Love running in the park.

NYC’s best kept secret: Hampton Chutney (Prince St, SoHo). Lunch on the run a piquant chutney, you can eat with your fingers, standing up, or sitting down. Love the classic potato masala, you can get rice dosas wrapped around portobello mushrooms, grilled chicken with goat cheese, or, our current favorite, smoked turkey, spinach, jack cheese, and caramelized onions.

  1. Such great recommendations ! I know Prince st pretty well. You gave me another reason to go there when I get there (whenever that is)

interesting read, always great to get insights from locals. One of my favorite spots is Central Park as well. Next time, I’m in New York, I will definitely try out the Hampton Chutney.

Absolutely! I’ve actually been thinking about featuring someone from another city/country each month, I think it would be a nice fit for all the travel bugs that follow the site!:-)
