Your NYC March 2014

Is this the month of “in like a lion, out like a lamb?”  Oh, how I hope so.  But lucky you, New York has plenty of activities on the docket to keep you busy and warm throughout the month!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade: March 17, 2014

Whether you hail from the Emerald Isle is of no consequence—on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone can lay claim to being at least a little bit Irish (even the City’s bagels and beer, which can be got in green for the occasion). The parade itself lays claim to being the oldest (it was first held in 1762) and largest of its kind in the world. Clad yourself in kelly for the event and watch bagpipers, marching bands and assorted revelers from near and far as they march up Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street. The parade starts at 11am and typically ends between 4:30 and 5pm.

Free Pilates in the Park: Every Friday throughout the month

Head to Prospect Park every Friday at noon to lengthen and strengthen your core.

The Orchid Show: March 1-April 21, 2014

Step out of the bustling city and into the Florida Keys (via the Bronx Botanical Garden!), where the beauty of a florishing tropical garden is amplified by vibrant architecture that recalls this particular island’s charm and ambience.  Hellloooo sunshine.

Fashion at FIAF: Various dates throughout the month

Celebrate French fashion with events all month long at the French Institute.  From fashion installations, to talks, to film screenings, this is a must-do for any Francophiles.

The Armory Show: March 6-9, 2014

The Armory Show (at Piers 92 and 94), and the Art Show (at the Park Avenue Armory)—are the week’s flagship events for collectors and casual art lovers alike—showcasing works from hundreds of galleries around the world.

New York Choice EatsMarch 25, 2014

Savor New York City’s culinary bounty at Choice Eats, the Village Voice‘s seventh annual tasting event. For one ticket, your taste buds can travel the City and the world without leaving the confines of Pier 36. Sample dishes from more than three score restaurants, including Thai eatery Larb Ubol, Lower East Side meatball emporium the Meatball Shop, LIC barbecue joint John Brown Smokehouse and Gowanus mollusk shack Littleneck. Sweets, craft beer, wine and cocktails are included in the deal.
