Two Exciting New Shows + Giveaways

This contest has officially ended.  A huge New York thank you to all who participated, and congrats to our winners, Jamie and Sojourner!  Stay tuned for more exciting giveaways!

There are seriously so many great shows happening right now, the Tony’s are going to have their work cut out for them this year!  We’re delighted to bring two shows to your attention today–one Broadway and one Off–as well as giveaways of tickets!  A happy Tuesday, indeed!

The shows are The Cripple Of Inishmaan and Bikeman: A 9/11 Play.  Here’s a bit about each:

The Cripple Of Inishmaan

“Daniel Radcliffe delivers his finest performance to date. He is remarkable,” raves The New York Times.

Radcliffe, star of the eight Harry Potter films, makes a triumphant return to Broadway following his 10-month sold out run in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in the Broadway premiere of Martin McDonagh’s riotous comedy directed by Tony® award winner Michael Grandage.

Set on the remote island of Inishmaan off the west coast of Ireland, word arrives that a Hollywood film is being made on the neighboring island of Inishmore. The one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy (Radcliffe), if only to break away from the bitter tedium of his daily life. McDonagh’s comic masterpiece examines an ordinary coming-of-age in extraordinary circumstances and confirms his position as one of the most original Irish voices to emerge in the second half of the twentieth century.”

Bikeman: A 9/11 Play

“Tom Flynn, a producer for “The CBS Evening News,” was outside his Greenwich Village home when he witnessed the first plane flying low, loud and determined on a fatal path toward the World Trade Center. Driven by journalistic instinct, he jumped on his bike and sped down to report on the story. He had no idea this day was truly like no other and his perspective on life would be forever changed. An epic poem transformed into a new and profound stage play, Bikeman tells the amazing, true-life story of Tom’s survival—a lyrical and unforgettable story of “a journey into a modern underworld, and of the escape that made it possible to tell the tale.”

Tickets are available here.

  1. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my German Grocery stores post! I remember when I was in NYC last that they were indeed starting to use bags as optional or bring your own. It’s a great idea as plastic bags are so wasteful and terrible for the environment.

I agree, the Tony’s will definitely have their work cut out for them this year! Great post. I must admit I’ve been in musical land and haven’t taken the time to explore the regular dramas. The Bikeman in particular looks fascinating. Fingers crossed that I win :)

  5. I love shows anyway – but it would be such fun to see Daniel Radcliffe live.
