UYC’s Kitchen: Fruit Flag

For those of you hosting rooftop fireworks parties this year, I have a super adorable, no-bake, no-work, 5-minutes-and-you’re-done, festive recipe*!  Trust me, your vegetarian friends who are skipping the hotdogs will love you, as will your gluten-free friends who are skipping the apple pie, not to mention your sober friends who are skipping the beer, and your vegan friends who are skipping the ice-cream.  (When did we all get so food-crazy?!  Is this just a NYC thing, or a global thing??)

Needless to say, you really can’t go wrong with fruit (although go organic, just in case), and as you can tell from the photos, there’s virtually no work required other than cutting up bananas and sticking the fruit on skewers.  Voila, fruit kebabs!  And seriously guys, how cute is this?!

*this pretty much came about because I’m trying to incorporate more fresh fruits into my diet, and much like a picky 5 year old, can only take pleasure in the act if there’s a bit of flare to the fruit.  And fruit on a stick definitely wins points for flare;-)

This looks delicious. Think I miss sneak this one on my little sister next time she complains about how fruit is boring!

Thanks Maria! I think next time I’ll make the “white” with pineapples rather than bananas, as they stay pretty longer;-)
