The Comfiest Ballet Flat, Ever

Us New Yorkers walk EVERYWHERE.  To the subway, from the subway, to the grocery store, back from the grocery store (lugging 50 pounds of food and drink, mind you), out for coffee, back to the office…you get it.  We are a city of power walkers.

That being said, footwear is exceptionally important.  Like many NY women, I wear flats on the street and carry heels in my bag, making the quick switch-a-roo when arriving to the office/restaurant/wherever.  A comfy, cute flat is hard to come by, but even the poorest quality sure beats schlepping around the city in heels (blisters, ahh!).  Until…

drum roll, please…

I was introduced to Tieks by Gavrieli.  Oh. Emm. Gee!!!  Seriously, a dream to walk around in…they’re like marshmallows on your feet, and come in every possible spectrum of the rainbow.  A sucker for cute packaging and a personal touch, I was super pleased with the presentation and the sweet handwritten note from the Tieks team.

The shoes come with a fold up bag, too, to make the transition from flats to heels super easy…throw them in the bag and go!

The price seemed a bit steep to me at first…$175 for a pair of flats that will last me all of a month walking around this city?!  So I tested them out for you, guys.  I got my first pair this winter (the classic matte leather blacks, so versatile!), and wore them EVERYWHERE (see, even in the snow!)  I loved them so much that sometimes I’d leave the heels at home entirely and rock the flats!

Pleased to say 7+ months later, they are still in excellent condition and just as comfy as the first time I slipped them on.  As the French say…quality, not quantity!  So I expunged my closet of all my subpar cheapies that boasted holes from walking (embarrassing, I know), and ordered the ballerina pinks to round out the color scheme!  These are my go-to flats for taking on New York, one power walk at a time.
