7 Unique Wedding Venues Near NYC

Weddings are one of the lifetime occasions that deserve to be celebrated in settings that will enhance the background of the day, no?

Don’t worry, I will not be stuffing you with details of wedding venues.  Today I’ll be sharing seven of New York’s most quintessential (and perhaps unconventional) spaces that are near the city and promise to deliver unforgettable backdrops to your big day.

1. Huntington’s Oheka Castle

You should certainly choose Huntington’s Oheka Castle as your wedding venue if you have always dreamt of getting married to your shining knight in a castle, literally!

Oheka Castle is one of NY’s the world’s finest and most elegant venues for weddings, giving you the ambiance of a European castle without even leaving the state.  This venue is what fairytales are made of.

2. Nassau County Museum of Art

If you and your partner fancy a place that preserves and enhances the collection of arts then look no further than the Nassau County Museum of Art.

You are likely to visit this place even after the wedding is over. It has got a massive collection of art objects covering American and European art of the 19th and 20th Century.  Your guests can stroll the rolling lawns, meadows, ponds and a wildflower walk. The place is very serene and quiet, which makes it ideal for art lovers.

3. Brooklyn Academy of Music

For music lovers, hosting a wedding at Brooklyn Academy of Music is like a dream come true. What better place will you find to express your love for music than during your own wedding? The venue has well trained staff to cater to your needs and is quite flexible with setting up the place.

The weddings get hosted in Lepercq space, 2nd floor of The Peter Jay Sharp Building.  However, a summer bride you must be, as the venue only hosts July weddings.  Book early, my friends!

5. Hallockville Museum Farm

The Hallockville Museum Farm has one of the most authentic rural settings compared to other wedding venues in Long Island.  This particular farm is surrounded with almost 500 acres of well maintained North Fork farmland, can we say hello rustic?  A shabby chic bride’s paradise.

They have magnificent museum grounds that can be used by the couple for the wedding ceremony. The farm is adorned with vintage buildings that are 250 years old.

6. Flowerfield

Flowerfield has beautiful fruit orchards, vineyards, manicured gardens, ponds and fountains. Imagine your wedding to be hosted on such a breathtaking space. You will enjoy the serenity and tranquility that this place has to offer.

7. Cradle of Aviation Museum

Imagine having actual aircraft hangars and artistic flight displays used as your wedding backdrop.  If you love airplanes and flying, then Cradle of Aviation Museum is the right venue for you.

Your guests, including the kids, will love to see the aerodynamic sights when they come in for the wedding. The dining and dancing takes place in the atrium which has a four story high glass ceiling, making the floor look spectacular.

Jess, I love them all for any big event but especially the music hall and the Hallockville Museum Farm – Has me thinking about similar alternative sites in other cities. The possibilities seem endless.

Once you start digging, you realize there’s a lot more places to host a party than catering halls…pretty cool!:-)

I’m going through wedding planning with my sister right now and she lives in NJ! Ultimately they settled for my parent’s 7 acre farm which should be interesting!
I got married in the mountains. On a mountain top, in fact. That is my dream backdrop.

Oh how fun! The farm will make for a beautiful backdrop, and extra special that it’s a family place!

The top of the mountain sounds AMAZING! Do you have any of your wedding photos on your blog? I’d love to see sometime!
