From The Lips Of A Local

Our featured New Yorker today is fellow blogger (and so, so funny!) PrettyFunnyLady from Hell’s Kitchen! We’re excited to bring you a slice of her NYC!

unnamed

Name: I like to go by PrettyFunnyLady

Occupation: Pays the Bills

New Yorker since: The Friday night I was hit by a car in front of a crowded bar while getting dumped over the phone.

What hood do you live in? Hell’s Kitchen

Where do you get your morning coffee? I don’t drink coffee often, however, on the mornings when I’m coming down from a Karaoke bender and need to cover up my boozy breath so as not to stink up a small conference room during an early meeting – I steal my roommate’s instant coffee she buys in Chinatown.

Restaurant you’d be really, really sad bordering on clinically depressed if they closed: Chirping Chicken

Every tourist must visit: Times Square and stay there.

NYC trend you’re currently loving/hating: Tapas. F*ck Tapas.

Favorite way to while away a (non-workday!) NYC afternoon: Fill up the flask, strap on the life preserver and swim cap and head out for a stroll.

NYC’s best kept secret: That’s the thing about New York – you’ve got to come here to find it.

For lots more humor, check out her blog, PrettyFunnyLady.

  • Mike & Maria,

Thank you both! Glad you enjoyed. There is more where that comes from!!!

  • Mike says:

Ahhh, don’t be a hater on those poor defenseless little Tapas, Funny Lady. Yes, I clicked on your post link. What about hors d’oeuvres or appetizers? Chirping Chicken, huh? Looked like a pretty small menu which likely means it is outstandingly delicious I assume? Thank you for sharing her with us, Jessica :)

The small and specialty menus usually know exactly what they’re doing, great observation, Mike!:-)

  • Maria Falvey says:

Love the tip that every tourist must visit times square, and stay there. I have stayed in a micro-room a few years back and few blocks off the square – definitely a neighborhood for great people watching.

    • Used York City says:

Haha, now define “micro room”, Maria…(I’m just wondering if it’s the typical size of a NY apartment!;-)
