ParkWhiz Takes The Headache Out Of NYC Parking

parkwhiz_ny1

When my family visits NYC from the sweet south, the biggest issue is always “where in the world are we going to park?!”  As New Yorkers are well aware, street parking is an extreme rarity–and even if one is lucky enough to snag a spot, chances are your car will have to be moved within the day to accommodate for alternate side parking, street closures, or one of the many parades or street fairs that grace our city on a weekly basis.  And without knowing the secrets to parking garages, one can easily spend well over the cost of a plane ticket on just a night of parking alone–talk about a money pit!  Not to mention the frustration of pulling up to a lot to find that it’s already filled to capacity–and then back into traffic you go.  Oy vey!

So I was thrilled to find out about company called ParkWhiz, an on demand parking application and website that allows you to book guaranteed parking in advance.  The app lets you price shop different garages in the area of town you want to park, and then pre-book a spot in advance with just one click!  You’ll be guaranteed a parking spot and price (which is more affordable than driving up without the app), and you’ll also get exact GPS directions from wherever you are to the garage.

Whether you’re seeing the latest ballet at Lincoln Center or catching a game at Barclays, ParkWhiz has all your parking needs covered from the Upper West Side to Brooklyn!  I’m emailing my family right now with instructions to download the app–no more excuses as to the headache of parking in NYC!

Happy parking, NYC!

  • I have yet to visit New York, but even the most simplest things of parking a car must be a real challenge in New York! What a great solution!

Haha, they really are! I suppose you get used to it after living here for a bit–but parking is definitely high on the headache list no matter how long you’ve lived here!;-)

What a great idea! Boston could use this too downtown.. I remember in the old college days, l always parked in the red zone. A ticket there cost me $15 fine, and parking in a lot cost $25!!! Plus sometimes you didn’t get a ticket :-) . Horrible …yes, but driving around and around sucked because it was hard to find parking. London could definitely use this too…San Fran..heck yes..I hope they expand rapidly.

Oh hopefully they will take heed and start the expansion process to these cities! Great suggestions, Kemkem!

That’s such a brilliant app idea! The parking issue is similar in London, though I’m not sure whether worse or better as I’m yet to visit New York.

Oh I bet! I was last in London 2 summers ago and remember the roads being quite congested;-)

  • This is a brilliant idea, we could do with something similar in London as parking can be pretty tricky

  • I don’t live near New York, but I can only imagine the trouble parking. This sounds great!
