Happy Memorial Day! What are you guys up to this week? These are 5 things I’ve done recently and absolutely loved…hope they inspire you to use your (NY) city, too!

NYC Activity To Do: The New York Transit Museum (Honestly, Augusten spent a solid 2 hours here exploring the vintage subway cars and playing bus driver–so while it’s totally aimed at adults, kids can have a great time here, too.)

NYC Book To Read: The Kid (Gah, this was probably the single most depressing book I’ve ever read, and I actually got physically ill during a few of the scenes. Even with that being said, I think it’s a really well done book and important read, told from the point of view of a child who’s mother is lost to AIDS, and who subsequently is in and out of the foster care system. If you haven’t read Push, start with that…this is the sequel.)

NYC Bakery To Sip Coffee And Catch Up With FriendsMilk and Cookies Bakery

NYC Brunch Spot in Queens: The Queen’s Kickshaw (Order the cheddar cheese biscuit and cold brew, you’ll be so happy!)

NYC Plant ShopDa Hing Flower Shop (I got the sweetest little succulents here in decorative pots for only $6.)

xo,

Jess

p.s. in case you missed it, you can do a quick weekend getaway from NYC and stay at a castle!
