In all my 13+ years living in the city, I have never rowed a boat in Central Park…until now! (Well actually, that’s not entirely true either because Mr. P did all the rowing;-) We headed out on Labor Day weekend for a lap around the lake, and all agreed that it’s one of the best ways for a family to spend $15 in NYC–such great bang for your buck. Up to 4 people can ride in a boat, making it ideal for a day date, outing with friends, or a fun family activity.
Even on a holiday weekend, the wait wasn’t long, we were through the line in less than 10 minutes. Just note–it’s cash only, and you also need to leave a $20 deposit. So technically have $35 with you, but as long as you return the boat in an hour you get that extra $20 back. And really, an hour is plenty of time to row yourself around and see Central Park from an entirely new perspective.
