Apple Picking at Apple Ridge Orchards!

High on my autumn to-do list was to take Augusten apple + pumpkin picking for the very first time!  I’m aiming to make this a yearly fall tradition with the family, and we’re starting strong!;-)

I’ve been to a handful of apple picking spots over the past few years, but this year’s definitely takes the cake.  The venue, Apple Ridge Orchards, was ideal–they had rows upon rows of apple trees prime for picking, a nicely displayed pumpkin patch, hayrides around the property, and baby animals for petting and feeding.  There were definitely a lot of people, but the only thing we actually had to wait in line for was the hayride, and even that was only about a 10 minute wait.

The orchard was 50 miles from NYC, but factoring in weekend traffic it took about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to via car.  Afterwards we drove about 10 minutes to the downtown area of Warwick and had lunch–definitely recommend Fetch Bar + Grill (it’s dog themed!), but the wait can be pretty long, and there’s lots of other dining options on the street, just FYI.

We left with a ginormous bushel of apples, and I’ve already made my favorite apple sauce.   Augusten has been having the best time munching on apples with his (very first!) two front teeth!  Happy autumn, everyone!

Would love to know…do you have any autumn traditions?  Share below!

Usually my family did picking at Masker’s Farms which is also in Warwick. We would bring a picnic, and of course, a thermos of hot coffee, lay a blanket, and soak it all in.
Augusten is getting just too cute!
Love Fall, my favorite time of year. But each year, it seems to arrive later and later in NYC. What think you, Jess?

It DOES arrive later and later, and dare I say, leaves earlier and earlier!;-) That sounds like a wonderful time, Joanne, such fun memories!!
