The New Foodie Fridays

Fellow Foodies,

We had so much fun eating and drinking at Aldea last week that we almost forgot Foodie Fridays should be as much about wonderful wines as they already are about fabulous foods. Drinking, after all, is an essential element of life in the city that never sleeps!

Used York City promises to bring you the best of New York each weekday, and Foodie Fridays will be no different. We’ll alternate food: a Treasured Table brought to you by our very own Guest Columnist Adam Gross with visits to New York’s best epicurean gems (catch up on Adam’s latest foodie pilgrimages around NYC: China via Flushing, Italy via Zibetto and Portugal via Aldea) — and wine: our brand new column where we’ll feature a bi-weekly bottle paired perfectly for life in the Big Apple…

Now, these won’t just be any wines picked by anyone – only the best, of course! The Used York City team has traveled up, down and around Manhattan tasting wines and meeting the people who recommended them (we’ve got to admit we’re feeling a bit tipsy!) in search of just the right vintage partner to help you get your NYC weekend started on the right foot!

In the meantime, we’ll kick off our Bi-Weekly Bottle with a pick from your very own editorial staff here at Used York City, the perfect pairing for our dinner at Aldea and more importantly, the quintessential summer wine for New York – crisp and dry, citrusy and mineralesque with a mysterious hint of effervescence: get your weekend drink on with Vidigal ($8) available at one of our favorite wine stores, Sherry Lehmann on 59th and Park, where you can also find the following picks if you’re up for a splurge, laying low, like it fruitier or want it dryer… (just like New York, there is another great distraction in every corner!)

Any burning questions on NYC’s vast epicurean jungle? Comments or suggestions for the new Foodie Fridays? We’re listening…

“Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life’s most civilized pleasures.” -Michael Broadbent

Hey CJ! Thanks so much for nominating us for the Illuminating Blogger Award, what a great Friday treat! We’ll definitely check it out, and also look forward to following along with your foodie adventures!

  • Leslie welch says:

Great summary helping those of us who depend on others to order from the wine list!

Do you know of any wine tasting classes in the city? It would be nice to learn first hand which wines agree with one’s pallate!

    Btw. Great graphics!

    • Used York City says:

Thanks Leslie! We’ll actually be featuring some wine classes in upcoming Bi-Weekly Bottle articles…stay tuned!:-)

  • Bethany G. says:

I really like the graphic you guys have. My biggest problem is going into wine stores and having no idea where to start, it’s overwhelming if you don’t know much about wine. These are all great price points too, which is nice. Will give the “Periquita” a try this weekend.

    • Used York City says:

Awesome, thanks Bethany! Be sure to subscribe to our site so you get the best wine picks delivered right to your inbox! We’ll always have a value pick on there, so you can find the best vino at any price point!;-) And let us know how you like the Periquita!
